Matthew Gardiner is a multi-talented, singer-songwriter from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa who combines his strong vocals, guitar with a looping pedal and kick drum for an upbeat, vibey & captivating performance.
He made his South African national debut in 2016 when he became one of the Top 30 contestants of South African Idols. Matthew has since shared stages with artists such as Matthew Mole, Majozi, Desmond and the Tutus, December Streets, Prime Circle, Micasa, Arno Carstens, Just Jinjer as well as international pop duo Neon Dreams, to name a few.
Apart from sharing stages, Matthew has gone on to perform on some of the most prestigious stages around the country including Splashy Fen, White Mountain Music Festival, Old Mutual Music at the Lake, Ballito Pro to name a few, as well as smaller festivals and events.
A highlight in Matthews Career was representing South Africa at the Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp in 2013 for music and culture.
He describes his music as acoustically written and transformed into a uniquely different pop sound with electronic production, deep and melodic bass-lines which can also be experienced in his solo or full band performances.
His latest single Brown 'Hair, Brown Eyes' has been heard across radio stations nation wide and even went on to taking the #1 spot.
